American rapper A$AP Rocky released from Swedish prison after spending almost a month in the European country for an alleged assault. This latest news on the rapper was confirmed by President Donald Trump on Friday on social media.
The President tweeted this a few hours ago:
“A$AP Rocky released from prison and on his way home to the United States from Sweden. It was a Rocky Week, get home ASAP A$AP!”#trump #asaprocky
This could be a sign of the Swedish Prime Minister and Government succumbing to pressure from the United State, after a request was made by Trump asking for A$AP Rocky’s release while vouching for his bail. Although the Swedish Government refused the request initially this judgement could be them making a U-turn, after the rapper was charged to court and his trial already started before this news.
According to the report by TMZ A$AP Rocky was released pending when the judge in his Swedish assault case decides his fate. The announcement in court was met with cheer from onlookers. A$AP is free to leave Sweden while they await a verdict, which is expected August 14. The other 2 defendants are also released and free to leave.
Prosecutors had asked that Rocky, who’s spent a month in jail, remain there because he was a flight risk, but the judges disagreed. Reading between the lines, the fact that the judges are letting him leave the country may be a sign he won’t be found guilty.
