The Lagos State House of Assembly member are being alleged to have concluded plans to get the Governor of the State, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode impeached for financial misappropriation.
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is alleged to have been spending state resources without the approval of the Assembly, which sparked the debate for his immediate impeachment from office.
This latest news will not be the first time such an allegation of gross misconduct will be levelled against the Governor, as long a few weeks back the National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who also is the godfather of the Politics in South West, called out the Governor for also abusing his powers as Governor.
Tinubu in a long letter released online alleged that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has destroyed labour of 16-years by himself and the previous Governor, Babatunde Fashola, alongside many other allegations.
If Governor Akinwunmi Ambode should get himself impeached by the Assembly members, it will not surprise many, as he has shown in the past that he is not a politician (a typical Nigerian politician) and a good example of this was what happened at the APC Governorship primaries which Tinubu’s annoited candidate, Sanwo-Olu won with a wide margin.
He does not have any control of the party machinery, neither does he have control over the Assembly members as we have often witnessed in in other states of Nigeria…the Governor is god…unfortunately for Ambode, the god here is Tinubu…he just have to obey the last orders…which in this case, could be impeachment…
We are waiting and watching what will happen as the general elections are fast approaching.
