A grenade was found in a primary school in Marseille France, Police authorities said on Friday.
According to the report by AFP, the grenade was found in the school on Thursday, around 3:30 p.m., at the primary school of Verduron Haut in the 15th arrondissement of Marseille.
The discovery was made during a gardening workshop in the schoolyard. When the children discovered the machine, the school principal told them that it was a large stone so as not to create panic. The schoolchildren were evacuated and brought to safety in the nursery school a few meters below, the report by AFP added.
A team of deminers was called to the scene. The grenade is no dummy but was too old to still be active.
The parents of the students were quickly alerted to this incident and were able to pick up their children through the kindergarten located a few meters below.
