Italian giant, Juventus sack Maurizio Sarri, after their disappointing Champions League campaign, and early exit from the competition.

The sacking of Maurizio Sarri, is coming after the Serie A champions were eliminated from the Champions League by Lyon on Friday night. The former Chelsea and Napoli manager, has spent just one season at the club before his sacking a few hours ago.

After the exit of Juventus from the Champions League last night, it was widely reported that Maurizio Sarri would be the first to lose his job, and barely 24hours later, that has come to past, despite leading the Turin giants to a ninth straight Serie A title.

Sarri was hired with the expectation that Juventus would progress to the later rounds of the competition, but the head coach was forced to angrily beat away questions surrounding his future after the setback, Dailymail had reported.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who has often single-handedly rescued Sarri this campaign, netted twice but the Old Lady crashed out on away goals after Memphis Depay struck from the penalty spot.

Juventus’ form after clinching yet another league title raised alarms, with the club limping over the line following a torrid run of two wins from their last eight fixtures.

Their points tally of 83, which proved just enough to fend off Inter Milan, was their lowest since the 2011-12 season.

Juventus sack Maurizio Sarri just a year after he left Chelsea to become the new manager of Serie A champions, with the hope of landing them the Champions League.

Sarri had guided Chelsea to third in the Premier League and clinched the Europa League title with the side, before he left after just one season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri replaced Massimiliano Allegri, and was signed by Juventus for £5million from Chelsea, where he committed his future with the
Italians until June 2022.
