Sergio Aguero’s opener was cancelled out by Roberto Firmino’s second-half equaliser, but Leroy Sane struck to clinch victory for the hosts.
The game had everything as a win for Liverpool would have ended the title chase, but the defeat to Liverpool now throws the title race wide open for every team.
