The news reaching us now suggest that irate mob kills Police Inspector identified as Olukunle Olonade who was until his death attached to Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) Ikeja after he was reported to have shot and killed one Mr. Rotimi Adeyemi, who was an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management, popularly known as LASTMA , along the popular Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos state yesterday November 28th.
The F-SARS officer was said to have been beaten to stupor by the irate mob at the scene, and later died from injuries sustained from the beating. The Police said the F-SARS officer died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The Police also said, that both corpses (LASTMA and F-SARS) have been deposited at Mainland General Hospital morgue, Lagos for the autopsy,
The name of the policeman is withheld because his NoK is yet to be notified by NPF.
State CID Panti Yaba, Lagos is investigating the circumstances surrounding this double-murder case.
The full statement from the spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, CSP Chike Oti, reads:
“On 28/11/18, at about 1800hrs, the driver of a Toyota Highlander SUV, with registration number LSR 277 BJ, later identified as Police Inspector Olukunle Olonade attached to FSARS Ikeja while driving along Iyana-Ipaja road, was contravened for driving against traffic by a LASTMA official, one Rotimi Adeyemi, aged 46 years at Iyana-Ipaja roundabout.
The serial number of the pistol recovered at the scene was checked in the system and it revealed the bearer as Inspector Olukunle Olonade attached to FSARS Ikeja

Corpses of the deceased have been evacuated to the morgue for autopsy.
