Google has once again, put out the famous Google Doodle to honour yet another Nigerian, and late singer and actress, Christy Essien-Igbokwe, who during her life time was Nigeria’s Queen of songs.
Google is celebrating the late Nigerian queen of songs, Christy Essien-Igbokwe’s 58th posthumous birthday, and in doing this, they have decided to make her their Google Doodle for today, just like they have been doing to other Nigerian and world heroes.
Christy Essien-Igbokwe was one of the few female musician then whose songs touched so many lives, as her songs are evergreen which were sang then like the Nigerian national anthem. Such songs like Seun Rere, Iya mi ranti, and Do you hear me children, and so many more…
She was that one entertainer fluent in virtually all the Nigerian major languages, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Ibibio, and made sure she sang in all these local dialect, that gave her a wide audience across the country.
The late Christy Essien-Igbokwe was the first female President of performing musicians Association of Nigeria, (PMAN), she was also the chairwoman and managing director of Soul Train entertainment Limited, and also before her death was honoured with National award of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (MFR).
She was born on 11th November 1960, and died in 2011..
