Aguero signs one-year contract extension with City

Aguero has signed a one-year contract extension with his club, Manchester City, as the Argentine striker and club legend was pictured putting pen to paper a few hours ago.

The new contract by striker Aguero will see him at the club until the year 2021. This new contract is also coming after speculation about his future and him wanting to leave the club last season, given his alleged falling out with manager Pep Guardiola who seems to favour Brazilian Jesus to the Argentine.

Sergio Aguero joined City from Atletico Madrid in 2011 for a reported £38m and has since proven why Manchester City at the time paid so much money for him, as he has helped them in winning three English Premier Leagues, and three league cups.

Aguero is also the Club’s record scorer, with 204 goals in 299 games so far for the club, and he does not look like slowing down on those records even at the age of 30!

Speaking on his Manchester City journey and achievement so far, the Argentine forward had this to say:

“I’m very happy because they have treated me very well since the first day I got here,”

“My idea was being here for 10 years. This was the main reason I signed.”

“It’s true that we’ve got a lot of young talent, that in the future can make the difference. At the same time, the youngsters are quite developed already, like Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, and Gabriel Jesus.

“There are a lot of players that have got things to improve and learn, but being in this club you learn and improve faster than anywhere else.

“We have a good team, we need to be focused and if we are at 100%, we have lots of chances to do great things.”

According to a report by BBC, the Director of Football at Manchester City Txiki Begiristain insists the striker is at the centrepiece of what they want to achieve at the club in the coming days. He said:

“He [Aguero] remains forefront of what we want to achieve in the coming years”.

“We are fortunate to have had one of the best strikers in the world at our club for so many years,” he said.
