Sergio Ramos has asked European football governing body UEFA to replace UEFA Champions League winners medal with a ring instead.

According to a report by marca, the Real Madrid and Spanish captain while speaking with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, argued that a winners ring will be more valuable to players than the winners’ medal, that football get after each Champions League finals.

The report said that the Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos asked FIFA president Gianni Infantino to suggest that UEFA replace Champions League medals with rings in the style of the NBA.

According to Marca, this interesting proposal came to light in Real Madrid Television’s ‘En el Corazon de la Decimotercera’ documentary which offers unseen footage from Los Blancos’ latest Champions League success.
Ramos, who got a ring made to commemorate the Decimotercera (thirteenth Champions League title) clearly favours rings over medals.”They give it more value,” he said

Given footballers and NBA stars recent relationship and the growth and awareness of football in America, Sergio Ramos might have gotten such an idea from his friends in the NBA.

If UEFA had adopted the winners’ ring for the Champions League, and given the number of Champions League finals the Spaniard has won, it means he would probably be having four winners ring on his fingers, and if it were to be in the NBA, he will be ranked amongst the best!

On how he feels about the chances of Real Madrid in the Champions League this season, having won it three times, he said:

“Real Madrid are always motivated to play in the Champions League, but this is special and different,”
“The fact that the final is played at the Wanda motivates us even more – it is an added incentive.”The challenge that has been set by the Madrid squad is clear: to continue making history in hostile territory.”
“They said that it was impossible to win two in a row – we did it,” he continued.”

“The same thing was said about the third and we also succeeded.
“This team is inspired by big challenges and winning the Champions League in the Wanda is another way of making history.”He said
