Big Brother’s George Gilbert has been told to ‘grow up’ by ITV viewers as he broke his social media silence following his axing from the reality competition Daily Mail reports.
According to the report by Daily Mail, Big Brother’s George Gilbert, 23, who is a Parish councillor from Braintree, Essex, was removed from the house because of the multiple language offences.
Daily Mail reported that a Big Brother spokesperson revealed last week: ‘Following repeated use of unacceptable language and behaviour, Big Brother’s George Gilbert has been removed from the Big Brother House with immediate effect and will no longer participate in the programme.’
George was previously given several warnings for unacceptable language, with one seen during Monday in the form of a formal warning issued in the Diary Room.
According to The Sun, he was removed on allegations of an antisemitic remark.
On Thursday, he was once again called to the Diary Room for another chat with Big Brother, before he was asked to leave – and didn’t return for spin-off Late & Live.
George took to social media with his first post since his removal, showing himself reclining in a garden lounge chair with history book, The Jews Of England, across his face.
Sitting up from the chair, George then turned to the camera to say: ‘I was asking questions. I just want to know the truth. You know?’
The video showed him letting out a sigh before walking off.
He added in the caption, quoting Albert Einstein: ‘The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.’
A number of Big Brother viewers took to the comments section to hit out that he should ‘grow up’ and reminding him that he ‘broke’ the rules.
One penned: ‘You broke broadcast standards,’ as a second chimed in: ‘I’ve read them. I know what they are, you know what they are. They’re dead easy to follow.
‘I’ve seen contracts for Netflix and ITV and BBC as an actor myself. You have to say some stupid s**t to get sacked/contract terminated.
‘Yet you brush it off as “I was just asking questions.” Do some self reflection and grow up.’
‘If you honestly don’t think it was a comment bad enough to warrant being booted out then why not just tell people what you said?’ another asked.
Someone else chimed in: ‘You need to learn to hone your debating skills,’ as a fifth concluded of the video post: ‘Zero accountability.’
George was removed from the house last Thursday – with his final chat with Big Brother airing on ITV during the episode.
Big Brother told George: ‘Before you entered the House the rules regarding unacceptable and offensive language and behaviour were explained to you.
‘Big Brother has warned you on several separate occasions about language, including issuing you with a formal warning.
‘Despite this, at 6:22pm, in a conversation about conspiracy theories, the words you used broke the rules regarding unacceptable and offensive language on multiple occasions.
‘George, Big Brother thinks that your repeated use of offensive language in the house including during yesterday’s conversation is unacceptable.
‘Big Brother cannot permit you to use language in a manner which is likely to be considered offensive by Housemates or the viewing public.
George responded: ‘Understood.’
Big Brother continued: ‘Despite the prior warnings and the opportunities we have given you to adjust your language in the House, you have persisted in using offensive language.
‘And as a result, Big Brother has no choice other than to remove you from the House.’
Big Brother gave him the opportunity to leave one final message, asking: ‘George, is there anything that you would like to say?’
To which George responded: ‘I always want to question any theory, any movement, I just like to, I just want to know the truth about things and I’m sorry.
‘I’m really gutted but if that’s what you want to do then I’m sorry it’s ended like this.’
