Disgraced American comedian and actor, Bill Cosby is said to be refusing to shower in prison, as he is concerned about catching the coronavirus.

Bill Cosby, according to the report by UK Metro, which reported that Cosby granted an interview to DaillyMail.com, stated that the comedian revealed in that interview that he is being tested for Covid-19 daily but has gone to extreme measures to protect his health.

The 83-years-old Bill Cosby was sentenced to up to 10 years after being found guilty on three counts of aggravated indecent assault. He is currently incarcerated at SCI Phoenix where he has been since his conviction in 2018.

SCI Phoenix has been damaged by a fire which broke out recently, causing dampness and condensation. ‘As of now I have declined to take any showers and I have decided to take wash-ups in my cell.

This is the best way for me to stay safe and healthy,’ the actor stated.

Earlier this year, Cosby’s lawyers attempted to seek early release for their client due to the coronavirus outbreak. Governor Tom Wolfe granted ‘temporary relief’ for vulnerable inmates but excluded sex offenders meaning Cosby had to remain in prison.

Andrew Wyatt, Cosby’s spokesman and close friend, said: ‘Many of the inmates are more concerned for Mr Cosby due to his age, health issues and blindness.’

Bill Cosby advised the public to take vitamins and syrup in order to ‘save lives from this invisible monster’. He said he’s confident America would ‘survive’ the pandemic.

The comedian is on lockdown in prison 20 hours a day while his formerly twice daily 15-minute phone calls have been slashed to a one 10-minute call. Lawyers for Cosby attended a hearing at Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court on December 1 in a bid to overturn his conviction.

Cosby said optimistically: ‘We’re not declaring a win’, adding that he’s happy ‘the world got to hear and witness what mainstream media refused to publish, which was the truth and the facts’.

The Fat Albert actor revealed he is ‘very, very hopeful’ about the outcome and a ruling is expected in the spring.

Cosby, whose wife Camille has stood by him, also refused to take part in a sexual predator rehabilitation programme despite it being a condition of his parole.

Spokesman Wyatt told the publication: ‘The minute you set foot in a sexual predator class you’re a demon, you’re guilty of that crime. He’s willing to sit there the entire ten years rather than attend that course.’
