Ed Woodward Reportedly Attacked By Some Fans Of United

Some fans of Manchester United who are yet to be identified by the Police, were reported to have launched an attacked on the home of the club’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward.

The fans who attacked the home of Ed Woodward in Cheshire, were said to been chanting that he was “going to die” as they throw a red flare into the compound.

Ed Woodward, who has come under series of attacks from Manchester United fans over the poor form of the club, especially his handling of some of the signings in the club, was not home when the alleged attack happened. But the club on Wednesday 29th January 2020 released a statement condemning the attack, as they threatened the attackers with a life ban if and when they are apprehended by the Police investigating the criminal offence.

A club statement added: “Fans expressing an opinion is one thing, criminal damage and intent to endanger life is another. There is simply no excuse for this.

“We know that the football world will unite behind us as we work with police to identify the perpetrators of this unwarranted attack.”

Cheshire police confirmed they received a call about “an incident of criminal damage” on Tuesday evening involving “a large group”.

A statement continued: “Thankfully no-one was harmed, and officers will liaise with security officials over the coming days to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and identify those involved.”

United play local rivals Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg on Wednesday and trail 3-1 on aggregate.

A defeat will further put more pressure on Ed Woodward and the entire Manchester United team who are still 5th on the League table.
