American rapper, TI is in the news once again, and as usual, for some controversial statement he made concerning how he takes his daughter, Deyjah to the gynecologist’s office to ensure she’s still a virgin.
Speaking to Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Moham on their podcast Ladies Like Us, TI was asked if he has had the “sex talk” with his daughter yet. He said:
“Have I? This is the thing: Deyjah’s 18, just graduated high school now and she’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself,” he said. “And yes, not only have we had the conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen.”
He said he even goes into the appointment with her to hear the results for himself, insisting his daughter sign a release to allow it. “I will say as of her 18th birthday, her hymen is still intact,” he proudly declared.
T.I.’s daughter is now 18-years-old and is off at college. The hosts noted that Deyjah is very beautiful and she has over a million followers on Instagram so Tip has his work cut out for him now that she’s not living in the same house.
The gynecologist made it clear to T.I. that there are other ways for a woman to break their hymen like riding a bike and sports. T.I. said he responded by declaring, “she don’t ride no horses, she don’t ride no bikes, she don’t play no sports. Just check the hymen please and give me back my results.” “I will say, as of her 18th birthday her hymen is still intact,” T.I. proudly said.
The statement has attracted alot of condemnation from fans and his fellow Hollywood celebrities, and here is what few of them have to say:
“Firstly, he should never ever be talking about his daughter’s sex life, ever,” exclaimed Sharon Osbourne on “The Talk” Wednesday. “On a podcast? I think it’s freaky he would go to the gynecologist with his daughter and to talk about it. Don’t talk about your kids’ sex life, about what’s going on in their body, it is sacred to them. It’s not your life.”
She added, “Because you’re the daddy doesn’t give you other rights, its not your life, let your daughter lead her own life. And keep her privacy.”
Eve adding her voice said: I know TI “for years” and, while she considers him “a great guy,” she found the comments troubling.
“Obviously, hearing this, it’s very shocking,” she said. “If I was his daughter, I would be like, why are you talking about this? Beyond that, this is like daddy issues to the 100th power. Those appointments — while I think it is okay for a dad to have those conversations with your daughter about sexual situations — her time with her doctor, that’s her private time. You’re infringing on her freedom, her body. He doesn’t own her and that’s where I come in with that situation.”
She added, “Thankfully, I know him personally and he is a good guy.”
